Demand Occupations

 

The Workforce Investment Board gives priority to training eligible clients in career fields that meet critical labor shortages in the region or statewide. The Employment Security Department publishes a listing of projected labor needs. Center Staff can advise you concerning demand occupations.

 Non-Traditional Occupations

To break down the stereotypes that some career fields are only suitable for workers of a specific gender - men or women. Emphasis is given to informing all clients about career opportunities in non-traditional fields. A listing is available.

 

Dislocated Worker Training

 

The Workforce Investment Act gives special consideration to workers who have been laid off because of plant closures or relocations. Assistance may include job search, relocation, upgrade training, or training in a new career field.

 Skills Training for New Industries

The Arkansas Work Force centers collaborate with employers and economic development agencies to develop training programs for new industries locating in the area in order to provide special skills needed.
